The European Youth Card is all about giving you the opportunity to do more so you can reach your full potential. It helps you travel across Europe, meet incredible people and make new friends. It also gives you great opportunities to learn new things and kick start your career, make a real change in your community and become a well-informed and active citizen that shapes society.
How the card works
How does the card do all this? It’s packed with tens of thousands of discounts on travel, culture, accommodation, education, services and products in 36 countries across Europe. Plus, in every country there are hundreds of programmes and opportunities for volunteering, learning, employment, entrepreneurship and many other things that help you along your way.
The card has different names in different countries. Whether it’s called Carnét Joven in Spain, Mecenat in Sweden or Avrupa Gençlik Kartı in Turkey, as long as the European Youth Card logo is on your card you can access all the thousands of opportunities in all 36 countries.
The card is issued and managed by organisations that are members of the European Youth Card Association (EYCA). Check out the Association section of the site for more details on EYCA.
How to get the card
You don’t have to be a student to get the card. It’s available to all young people under the age of 31 or 26, depending on your country. The card is usually valid for one year and the price varies from country to country. Check out the card in your country and don’t hesitate to get in touch with the local card office to find out more.

The European Youth Card for European Solidarity Corps Participants
Powered by EYCA and the European Commission, the European Volunteer Card gives young people in European Solidarity Corps (ESC)-funded participant programmes, access to tens of thousands of discounts and opportunities available in over 35 countries in the youth card network.

Are you going abroad as a European Solidarity Corps participant? Read on!
First of all, thank you for enrolling in the ESC programme! We’re sure you’ll have a wonderful time, and we’re happy to help you make the most of it.
You should receive an email with your ESC European Youth Card soon after starting your service. Once your participation has been approved, you will receive all the information to retrieve your digital card through the Mobility Tool+ platform of the European Commission. In this email, you will find your EYCA number and the links to download the phone apps developed exclusively for ESC participants.
Your card will be valid for 18 months and can be used both at home and when travelling. Discover all the discounts available across Europe.
This is nothing but a small thank you from our side to all young people that contribute every day to a better society and a more united Europe through volunteering.
EYCA is committed to sustainable use of the European Youth Card
As part of EYCA’s efforts to advance sustainability and our goal to reduce our plastic footprint, we have created an exclusive app that includes the digital card and allows you to see the discounts around you during your trip. The digital card replaces the traditional plastic card.
Haven’t you received your card yet?
Due to several delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we are currently issuing cards for ESC participants that started their service throughout 2020. We expect to start issuing cards for ESC participants who have started their service in 2021 in the coming months.
