Ипомея пурпурная: садовый вьюнок без претензий
Ипомея — неприхотливая, быстрорастущая, однолетняя лиана, популярная в отечественном садоводстве для вертикального озеленения. Ипомея украшает беседки и перголы, заборы и стены домов, арки и ограды — все что служит ей опорой.
Ипомея — красивая, культурная, разновидность вьюнка полевого, противного сорняка, с которым сложно бороться. Цветки ипомеи пурпурной крупнее и более приятны глазу, чем у дикого собрата.
Листва ипомеи пурпурной декоративна сама по себе
Садоводы выращивают несколько видов ипомей, но особо популярны лишь ипомея трехцветная и ипомея пурпурная. Они родом из центральной части Америки. В народе ипомеи величают «граммофончиками» или же просто вьюнками, что тоже верно, ведь они входят в семейство вьюнковые.

Ипомея пурпурная (Ipomaea purpurea) имеет длинный вьющийся стебель. Благодаря стеблю ей подобрали название, состоящее из двух греческих слов «ips» — червь и «homoios» — путь, что означает «путь червя».
Ипомея в саду
В саду ипомея пурпурная (англ. Morning Glory) растет быстро, подобно остальным вьюнкам, захватывая всю предложенную территорию. Длина побегов ипомеи достигает 4 метров, а в теплых регионах до 7 метров. То есть ипомея может дорасти до третьего этажа коттеджа.

Ипомея заслоняет стены зданий от солнца зеленым ковром из листьев, а цветки создают неповторимую мозаику на этом ковре. Кстати, цветки садового вьюнка могут достигать 6 сантиметров в диаметре.
Окрас цветков ипомеи разнообразный. Встречаются синие, фиолетовые, голубые, пурпурные, белые цветки, а также полосатые, пестрые и махровые.

Ипомея пурпурная начинает цвести в конце июня и продолжает цветение до заморозка. Цветы обновляются ежедневно, так как каждый цветок вьюнка живет один день — открывается в первой половине дня, а к вечеру закрывается и больше не открывается.
Уход за ипомеей
Уход за ипомеей прост: посадите растения в рыхлую питательную почву, изредка поливайте и не увлекайтесь подкормками, чтобы зелень не развивалась избыточно, в ущерб цветкам.
По мере роста ипомеи обеспечивайте ей опору, которую растение сможет оплетать своими плетьми. На южной стороне дома не забывайте мульчировать почву после полива.
Ипомею размножают семенами, высевая в открытый грунт в конце мая. Слишком рано сажать ипомею не надо, семена прорастают быстро, и всходы появляются через неделю после посадки.

Одно из самых любимых тайцами и экзотичных для нас блюд – morning glory, что переводится как “утренняя слава”. С ботанической точки зрения это вьюнок пурпурный, он же ипомея.
Выращивают его специально в прибрежных районах Таиланда и собирают ровно на третьей неделе после посева. Хрустящие ярко-зеленые тонкие полоски «утренней славы» дополняют вкус острых супов и разнообразных закусок.
Или достаточно добавить к пучку morning glory сок лайма, чеснок, рыбный соус и, конечно, чили – и освежающий легкий салат готов. Но чаще всего хрустящие стебли morning glory обжаривают в рыбном соусе, приправив чесноком, лаймом и чили.
Словарь английского языка выдал мне ещё одно пикантное значение этого “блюда” – так в Австралии называется утренние отношения влюблённых парочек до завтрака.
