«Grid is overloaded» error on RF-based machines #1210
Comments
xenoflot commented Jan 5, 2017
If a GP network is overloaded, xu2 RF-based machines (such as the grinder) halt with the message «Grid is overloaded».
Also, looking at these machines (Furnace, Furnace Gen & Grinder) gives the gridpower usage display.
Since there is no Resonating Redstone Crystal in the recipes for these items, thus no link to the GP network, I am concluding that this is unintended behaviour.
I have a heavy modpack so if this isn’t happening in isolation, let me know and I’ll try to narrow down the conflict.

This is known. You can use speed upgrades to increase the rate at which generators use fuel and produce power. The speed upgrades have a GP cost, so the furnaces have a 0 GP cost without them and an overloaded grid shuts them down. I agree that 0 GP machines should not shut down when the grid is overloaded, but that’s Tema’s call.
xenoflot commented Jan 5, 2017
Indeed. It’d be ideal if the basic function worked w/o GP and just the upgrades stopped working in an overload case.
Thanks for letting me know! I’ll leave this open. Perhaps Tema will see it.

I suggest you close it and make a new issue requesting that generators not shut down completely when the grid is overloaded, or at least that it be a config option. Others might send their support and it will be more visible.
Grid is overloaded что делать
Grid Power is an energy system added by Extra Utilities 2.
In addition to, or instead of Redstone Flux, some Extra Utilities 2 items require Grid Power. Unlike other energy systems, Grid Power is player-specific, wireless, range-less and cannot be stored. Any generators placed will be linked to the player that placed them and contribute to that player’s Grid Power pool. Grid Power can be shared with other players using the Power Sharing Command.

Operation [ править | править код ]
GP generators add to the player’s pool of power. Some GP consumers use a fixed amount of GP (e.g., the Ring of the Flying Squ >
Efficiency [ править | править код ]
If too many of one particular type of GP generator is used, those generators become less efficient. Efficiency is 100% until the total GP produced by that type of generator exceeds a specific limit, upon which efficiency drops; there is usually more than one threshold, and the efficiency will continue to drop in steps as further thresholds are exceeded. To see these thresholds, which differ by generator type, hover over a GP generating block in an inventory and check the tooltip. Efficiency ultimately puts a limit on the amount of GP one particular type of generator can efficiently produce, forcing a player to build a number of different types of generators if they want large amounts of GP.
Earlier versions of Extra Utilities 2 do not have the efficiency mechanic.
Generators [ править | править код ]
Generators produce Grid Power through a number of methods unique to that type of generator. They contribute directly to the player’s pool of Grid Power without any wires or connectors, so a generating block can be placed anywhere that is suitable. However, due to the nature of Grid Power, players will want to keep chunks with generators loaded. Chunkloading of generators is absolutely essential for devices which are carried by the player, such as the Angel Ring.
Starting Options [ править | править код ]
A player must build one or more of these generators first in order to power a Resonator, which allows the player to produce items that are required to craft the other generators.
The Manual Mill generates 15 GP. It is operated by right-clicking the mill. Turning or walking away from the Manual Mill will stop power generation.

— As Peez indicated, your generators can produce more than than the wire can carry.
— A battery can load charge slowly but then dump all of its energy at once if there is demand. So, even a single 400w manual generator connected to a battery *can* overload a 2k conductive wire if all of the power gets drawn at once (yes, it is crazy but it is how the game was designed so we must play by those rules).
Both of those situations will overload the wire. To prevent it, use transformers as throughput limiters (that is what they really are in the game).
Tips in connecting generator banks to your heavy-watt power bus:
— If you use regular wire, use one regular transformer. It will stop your batteries from outputting more than the 1kw the wire supports.
— If you use conductive wire, use two regular transformers in parallel. It will stop your batteries from outputting more than the 2kw your wire supports.
— If you use heavy-watt wire between your generators, connect them directly and use the right number of 4kw large transformers in parallel to support the power generated.

Extra Utilities 2 grid is overloaded
For some reason, im getting a grid overload on my furnace generator even when it isnt connected to a system. Just the generator sitting on its own and its overloaded. Ive deleted the XU save file and it didnt resolve the issue. Any help?

Do you have any upgrades? Are any of the other XU2 machines/grid power using things overloaded? If the grid is overloaded no XU2 machines will work apparently.
Everything is connected to a grid when you place it, how it cannot be?
You need more generation of grid power, or use less upgrades/machines that consume said grid power.
Something you have requires grid power. It could be anything. a transfer node, a ring, an upgrade in the generator. Best thing to do is get some passive grid power to supply whatever it is. Water mills are popular if that is an option.
Did you give yourself an angel ring? That requires GP (Grid Power). If you try to draw more Power from your grid, it will be overloaded and nothing will work anymore.
The Grid in EXU2 is ethereal and playerbound. EXU2 Blocks placed by you will draw from your grid or generate GP in your grid (generators / mills). The grid can be shared with others through the /xu_powersharing command.
