При клонировании Windows 10 (установленной на жёсткий диск стиля MBR) в программе Acronis True Image 2017 на компьютер с включенным UEFI, программа Acronis автоматически преобразует целевой HDD или SSD в стиль GPT

Для примера будем клонировать Windows 10, установленную на моём компьютере.

Управление дисками нашего компьютера.

В системном блоке имеется два накопителя (обычный HDD и SSD) оба стиля MBR. В БИОСе интерфейс UEFI отключен.

Диск 0 (объём 500 Гб), на нём находится Диск (C:) с установленной Windows 10.

Оба жёстких диска стиля MBR.

Перезагружаемся, входим в БИОС и включаем интерфейс UEFI. Е сли вы не знаете как это сделать, то поможет эта статья.

После этого загружаем компьютер с загрузочной флешки Acronis True Image 2016-17.

Выбираем «Инструменты и утилиты».

Выбираем Режим клонирования «Автоматический» и жмём «Далее».

Для подтверждения удаления всех данных на целевом SSD жмите «ОК».

Здесь самое интересное. Так как мы включили в БИОСе интерфейс UEFI, то программа Acronis True Image 2017 предупреждает нас о том, что выбранный целевой SSD будет преобразован в структуру GPT, которая сделает этот диск загрузочным.

Важное замечание : Загрузочная флешка должна быть создана в активированной (то есть купленной) версии Acronis True Image 2017, в противном случае на этом этапе вас будет ждать такая ошибка.

Начинается операция клонирования Windows 10 с обычного жёсткого диска на твердотельный накопитель, при этом происходит автоматическая конвертация SSD в стиль GPT.

Загружается Windows 10.

Идём в Управление дисками и видим созданный на твердотельном накопителе скрытый раздел «Исправен (Шифрованный (EFI) системный раздел)» FAT32, содержащий файлы конфигурации загрузки Windows 10. Данный раздел создаётся только в операционных системах UEFI, установленных на диск GPT.

Смотрим свойства твердотельного накопителя с установленной OS и видим, что диск имеет стиль GPT.

Исходный же диск 500 Гб так и остался в стиле MBR.

Unable to lock the disk.

Hello! I get an error when I try to clone a disk.

Andry, welcome to these public User Forums.

This error is normally caused because you are cloning when your computer is in a hybrid sleep state rather than having been shutdown fully.

ATI 2019 allows for Active Cloning which can be performed from within Windows by using the Microsoft VSS snapshot service. This works best when the target drive for the clone does not already contain any Windows OS.

To avoid going into hybrid sleep either use the Restart option instead of Shutdown, or else press & hold the Shift key when pressing on Shutdown. Hybrid sleep = Windows Fast Start.

I tried both rebooting and shutting down completely. Active Cloning doesn’t work either. Hangs on stage-select the destination disk for the cloned data.

Ok, then much more information is needed here to try to understand what is happening?

What drives are involved here, what sizes, how connected etc?

What version of Windows OS is being used?

What version / build of ATI are you using, i.e. is this ATI 2019 build 14690 (latest build)?

OS Windows 10 x 64

Yesterday I tried ATI 2017, today paid for a new license ATI 2019 build 14690 but also does not work.

Active Cloning shows this inscription and does not go further

Andry, sorry but the image shows nothing of value to understanding what is happening here.

Please download the MVP Log Viewer tool and use this to access the log file information for your cloning actions as this may show more detail of what is going on?

Link to the tool is in my signature below.

1) Make sure you’re using the latest 2019 version. Try to clone directly in Windows if it let’s you. You’ll need to make sure that Windows can see the new and the existing drive before you try though (make sure the new disk is initialized and showing a drive letter in Windows).

2) If that doesn’t work for some reason, create Acronis Rescue media using the 2019 winRE method and then boot that up and try to clone.

HOWEVER, before you boot it up. A) Do a full shutdown by pressing SHIFT+shutdown or use command prompt and type shutdown /p.

This will ensure a full shutdown instead of a possible hybrid shutdown where the disk may remain locked by a hibernation file.

Thanks for the replies! But it doesn’t help me.

Now I understand that the Acronis is only advertising. Software is not working, tech support not responding. Acronis creates the illusion of reliability and doesn’t really work but only raises money every year. I found a few more topics with a similar problem that hasn’t been solved since 2015. I also found a great free software that solved my problem in 4 simple steps. I’m upset that I’ve been paying for licenses for over 5 years, and getting a pacifier.

But your other comments are misguided. Acronismvp works great for most people and offers different features not found in other products. I not only use Acronismvp but other paid products and free products too. Each has positive and negative features for my environment and use cases and will differ with others.

Unfortunately, you didn’t provide any actual details to the thread that might have helped identify or resolve your issue. When you ask for help, but don’t provide background or details requested by people wanting to help, well, then you won’t find answers.

Glad you found something else that your happy with though. I hope it works out in the long run.

I also have been getting this message when backing up my hard drives:

I may have to rethink or look into using a different Program to backup my hard drives.

Andry, when are you seeing this? Are you using rescue media or is this from windows? Are you cloning or restoring a backup? If a backup restore, is it an entire disk or files/folders? If files, are you attempting to restore to the original location with existing permissions?

Really hard to provide a random «guess» to answer your question, which is the best you’ll get without some information from your end.

Assuming a clone or a full disk restore is being tried.

1. You need to boot full Windows and do a full shutdown before anything. Fastboot on windows 8, 8.1, 10 locks a drive with a protected hibernation file that windows will recognize on the source disk and winpe or WinRE rescue media is windows and will see it too. Unlock the disk by doing a full shutdown so windows does not using a locked hibernation file and fastboot. Shutdown /p ensures a full shutdown.

2. likely, you either need to format the destination disk and make sure it’s initialized as the same as the source image (MBR or GPT), or the destination disk already has windows on it and should be formatted anyway so an existing OS (which also could be locked by fast start hibernation) is not present. In windows, delete the volume and then initialize correctly first. Or in rescue media, use add new disk feature to initialize the destination disk first.

Unable to lock the disk. Boot your computer from a linux-based media

I have recently upgraded my ATI 2019 to 2020. With OS Windows 10 Pro 64. Whenever I try to recover whole partition using Acronis Bootable Media, Acronis window gives me error “Unable to lock the disk. Boot your computer from a Linux-based bootloader media”. Shutting down while holding the shift key with no success.

Mehr, there are various opinions of this annoying issue!

Creating and using the Acronis Linux based rescue media does work as Linux ignores whatever in the file system from Windows is holding a lock on the disk drive.

Other users say that retrying the recovery multiple times, i.e. 3 or 4 or more, can cause ATI to be able to lock the disk and proceed with the recovery.

Personally, I have one system where I have hit this recently and only the Linux media will get past the error message!

Dear Steve, thank you for your reply. Using linux-based bootable media, it did not detect pc partitions, and only external hard drives are available as destination partitions. I have gathered the log.

Lastly I created a ticket for this issue.

What type of PC partitions / internal disk drive are not being detected by the Linux media?

The only other method that I know will work when this lock issue is encountered is to use the ‘Add new disk’ option in the WinPE rescue media, selecting the correct target drive and setting this to the correct partition format (GPT or MBR) then leaving the drive as unformatted. This will then not have any locks to prevent ATI from restoring the disk backup to it.

The key downside to doing this is that you have to recover the whole disk, so cannot use this approach to just restore a single partition!

I am currently facing this issue. Windows 10. When running recovery, I select the drive and right click and select Recovery

I then select Disk 1 and verify all others below are checked. Click next, and I get the above error message.

I have tried to add a new disk, but that does not resolve the issue. Instead I am just getting the same error message.

This happened on multiple computers.

Sorry but need to start from the beginning here with your issue.

What exactly are you trying to do and how are you trying to do it?

What are you trying to recover, are you trying to do this from within Windows, or are you booting your computer using Acronis Rescue Media? If the latter, which type of rescue media are you using?

Are you recovering to the same / original drive the backup was made from, or to a different drive? If the latter, is the different drive of the same size as the original? What size of data is being restored?

Not sure why this thread died, but I am having this issue right now with TI2021.

I created a brand new TI2021 boot media DVD disk using the simple method. I rebooted to the DVD, which gave me the option to run TI. I selected clone disk, and then selected my SSD EVO 850 (500GB) as my source drive. I waited for a bit and it came back with the error described in this thread («Unable to lock the disk. Boot your computer from a Linux-based bootable media and try again.»).

So it appears this issue has walked over from TI2020 to TI2021. Yes, I know I can clone a disk under Windows, but I wanted to use the tools TI provides and take the opportunity to get a clean clone without other stuff going on with Windows.

Apparently I can’t. I don’t have any Linux based stuff, so I guess I am dead in the water on this. Anyone at Acronis looked into this since 2020 version?

Now I am actually scared I could not recover my system should I ever need to.

Craig, have you read through and tried the suggestions in the earlier posts in this topic?

The source disk can be ‘locked’ for various reasons including by booting into the Acronis Rescue Media when the PC has not been fully shutdown, i.e. is in a hybrid sleep state akin to hibernation. Doing a full shutdown by pressing / holding down a Shift key when clicking on Shutdown may help resolve this issue.

What are you cloning to here? Is this a disk drive that already contains a previous clone of the OS, if so, then wiping that target disk before doing a new clone can be helpful or else using the option in the Rescue Media > Tools > Add new disk and selecting the correct partition scheme (GPT or MBR) to match the source disk drive.

The Linux based rescue media can be created via the Advanced option of the Rescue Media Builder tool and doesn’t require any Linux knowledge or skills. It is the media that ATI was using from the beginning with version 7.0 but they are now moving away from since 2018 in favour of using Windows PE media, in line with their competitors.

If you are concerned about being able to recover, then I would strongly recommend using Backup and Recovery over using Cloning. Making regular Backups from within Windows using the scheduler is going to give you many more recovery options than doing an occasional clone, plus Backup is far more economical in disk storage needs. I can store perhaps as many as a dozen backup images on a single disk drive versus only having one clone copy! Проблема с Клонированием дисков в проге «acronis true images»

воспользовался я тут прогой acronis true images.

Все было нормально. Хотел клонировать диск С с занятым пространством 40 Гб на винт с объемом 320 Гб. Исключил всё, что не надо клонировать, но всё равно выдает ошибку «для выполнения операции с текущим фильтром требуется ещё 141 Гб свободного пространства. Исключите ещё файлы и повторите попытку». Что это за бред и как сделать так, чтобы всё клонировалось?

делаешь архив tib 40гб раздела, и потом его восстанавливаешь на раздел в 320гб.

надо тогда выбирать клонировать раздел (логический диск), а не весь диск. Если емкость до 320 должно прокатить

А сколько размер диска С? И случайно не на одном диске раздел С и тот что 320? По идее он клонирует диск целиком, а не раздел. Проше создать образ, и потом его развернуть, ну или заюзать бесплатные по для миграции от них. на сайте comss есть и для WD и ST

Нет такого способа как скачать бесплатно любимую книгу:

Заходим на рутрекер, в поиске вбиваем «Флибуста» и скачиваем всю библиотеку со всеми книгами (да размер не маленький, больше 300гиг), но оно того стоит. В самой программе есть поиск и можно найти книгу по автору, названию и т.д.

Пару лет назад неудачно упал на обе руки, боль была столь сильная, что решил поехать в травматологию (1-я поликлиника Новосибирск). Пока сидел пару часов в очереди, то боль настолько усилилась, что из глаз начали непроизвольно литься слёзы. ЛЮДИ в очереди увидели это, спросили про самочувствие и пропустили вперёд. Зашёл я в кабинет. Травматолог стал требовать одеть бахилы, я пытался объяснить, что не могу их одеть, и он стал отказываться принимать! В итоге сошлись на том, что я разуюсь! Отправил он меня на рентген (а это по сути в другом конце больницы), одного без сопровождения. Подошёл к двери кабинета, а открыть не могу, начал пробовать пинать (но босиком тихо получалось), начал кричать, в итоге вышла рентгенолог и запустила. В итоге перелом обеих рук. Наложили гипс, и ЛЮДИ в очереди потом помогли мне обуться! Совершенно незнакомые ЛЮДИ отнеслись более человечнее, чем врач и медсестра! До сих пор не забуду требование одеть бахилы!
