Pearson Esquire. Эсквайр (англ. Esquire, обыкновенно сокращенно Esq.) — почетный титул, происходящий от англо-норманнского слова escuier, франц. écuyer, лат. scutifer, т. е. «щитоносец». Первоначально титул этот носили в Англии все те, которые, не будучи пэрами или рыцарями, пользовались правом иметь свой герб, т. е. весь обширный класс английского дворянства — джентри. Лица низших классов могли получать этот титул только посредством королевских грамот. Титул передавался потомству.
