Thanks for your reply, unfortunately nothing of these steps work.
trying all of these buttons, only change the message on the left corner on the screen.
For bios reset, i did it by cmos battery and once i turned on after, it shows a message on the screen that it’s resetting to default, then it showed the same black screen as before. as well i can’t perform the steps below for troubleshooting.

I know the menu you are talking about.
but in my case, pressing Esc repeatedly didn’t show anything.
Appreciate you trying the steps. I’d suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding this issue.

Did you make any hardware or software changes on your PC?
Have you tried checking with an external keyboard?
Please provide the product number of your PC to assist you better.

In Windows, search for Command Prompt. In the search results, right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator. Then click Yes.
In Command Prompt, type sfc /scannow. Make sure to include the space between sfc and the /.
Press Enter and wait while System File Checker scans for corrupted files.
When scanning is complete, the results are displayed on the screen.
If the file checker found and replaced any corrupted files, restart the computer and check the performance.
If the file checker did not find any corrupted files or found corrupted files but could not replace them, go to the next step.
If System File Checker finds corrupted files but cannot replace them, use the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool. DISM checks the corrupted files; then downloads and replaces the files using Windows Update.
In Windows, open a web browser.
NOTE:
You need to be connected to the Internet to use DISM.
In Windows, search for Command Prompt. In the search results, right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator. Then click Yes.
In Command Prompt, type dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth. Make sure to include the space before each / in the command line.
Press Enter and wait while DISM works. This might take several minutes.
If DISM finds corrupted files, it replaces them using Windows Update. If this occurs, after DISM is finished, restart your computer and see if the performance has improved.

Re: Laptop Turns on But Nothing Boots. ‘ESC. Pause Startup’
Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
As I understand, notebook turns on but it does not boot to desktop,
Don’t worry as I’ll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details :
What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824
(Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc. ).
Have you attempted any steps on your own before posting on the HP Forums?
What is the operating system on PC?
When was the last time it worked fine?
Were there any hardware/software changes made?
Product number X0H86UA#ABA
MODEL 15-ay041wm
OS Windows 10 (64-bit)
I tried resetting the bios but never got passed a black screen that tells me the input for what i pressed at startup
Ex. Esc. pause startup
F11 system recovery
F10 bios setup options
It was working fine about a week ago when it instantly shut down and wouldn’t boot back up.
I didn’t install any new programs, and have been looking for answers online, I’ve tried powering off, (and holding the button for 15 seconds to complete the discharge) removing the battery completely and repeating the discharge remove. Ive tried entering into the bios menu, doing a system recovery, and s startup check.
Thank you for responding,
Let’s try these steps to resolve the issue:
Hard Reset : Follow steps from the link: https://hp.care/2GnkMa8.
If the computer restarts normally and the error message does not display, you are done. If the error message displays proceed to the next step.
Perform System Test:
My daughter has a HP 625 notebook (product code WS786EA#AKS, windows 7) that is no longer starting. I have tried a lot but have now run out of ideas on how to fix it (or see what is the error)
When I do a power on, it is stuck for a long time at the HP logo screen, saying «Press the ESC key for Startup Menu». If i press esc (or any other F-key) nothing happens for a long time. After a while (like 10 minutes) one menu option is written (I think it is «Press F1 for system information»). Then after a while more (like 5 more mintues) the startup menu finally appears. Then it responds quickly (inside the menu system) and i can do some tests.
I have taken out the HDD, but the slow boot process is still there, I need to wait 10-20 minutes to go into to startup menu.
Once there, I was able to do a memory test, but there were no errors found.
Once there I have also managed to update BIOS (through a bootable USB key) without the HDD being installed. The same behaviour is still there after upgrade (without HDD).
I have tried to look at the blinking of the «Caps lock» LED. It does not blink until after a long time. I didn’t see exactly when it started (I couldn’t sit there for 10 minutes waiting for a key to maybe blink), but when I started counting it blinked at least 10 times, so it does not match any of the blink codes.
(I docked the HDD into a USB dock, and run som disk checks. Some errors were corrected, but it seemed to be OK also before that. After all of the actions above, I reinstalled the HDD in the notebook, put in a Windows 7 recovery DVD, and restarted. It didn’t care. It still «hangs» att boot logo).
Obviously there is some hardware error, but I wonder which part it might be that is not working, and how I find out?
Hoping for help from you experts out there.
