Client timed out left 4 dead 2 что делать
I was playing with a friend when this happened to me, he didn’t have any problem.
I can’t play one map of a campaign without being kicked out with this message and after that I can’t join the same game, I’m kicked out again with the same message.
I’ve tried deleting Clientregistry.blob but it doesn’t solve anything.
Am I the only one having this problem?
Does anyone know how to solve it?
Had this issue the other day. A few things I tried to fix it.
1. Disable steam cloud for L4D2. Didn’t work for me but others say it did.
2. Verify integrity of game cache
3. Go to your steam directory and delete the file called ClientRegistry.blob and restart steam.
4.(This one worked for me) While in game, open console and type cl_updaterate 50 Sometimes it’s set at 100. Turning it down to 50 didn’t seem to have any gameplay changes with me. Seemed smooth still. So give these things a try and let me know if they work.
Thank you very much, BoneheaD, I didn’t know how to do the first step you said, so I begun with the second one and this afternoon I played a full campaign.
Before posting here I looked for solutions in google, so I’d already deleted ClientRegistry.blob.
Finally, I didn’t understand the fourth step. How do I open console? I don’t know what «console» is.
key above TAB. If it doesn’t do anything, go into options in game, and enable the developer console. Then hit that key and type in cl_updaterate 50
Let me know if you ever find a fix. I’ve had the same issue since January and not a damn thing anyone has suggested (including Steam) has worked for me.
Out of curiosity, what anti-virus are you running? Last thing Steam suggested to me was to uninstall mine and re-install Steam. That had the same success as deleting clientregistry.blob.
Yeah, I got hit with it the other day, so my solution doesn’t seem to work. I will say that the amount of times it does happen is way less than before. I also noticed that I tend to get it if I’m not hosting the game.
I’m planning to try to get around playing it on my laptop sometime this week until either it gets the error, or I feel enough time went by that I should’ve gotten the error. That’ll at least tell me if the issue is my desktop, an add-on, or somewhere outside of my router.
i just got this about a week ago, came out of nowhere and ive never seen it before after playing almost 250 hours of L4D2.
Tried everything on that list bonehead posted, the only thing that worked was disabling steam cloud, which worked for only a day. It came back again an hour ago, I verified cache and that made it work for about 30 minutes, then it happened again just now, and none of these steps are working anymore.
Im not having problems with any other games besides CSGO, which recently also broke and says that my VAC cant be authenticated in competetive mode. I dunno if they are connected but nothing is fixing this and ive tried everything i can think of.

This error will occur when trying to join a game in any gamemode. It can occur when connecting to a server with a weak connection, but usually this error causes the player to stop connecting to any server in every mode, including singleplayer, with the error message “client timed out”.
If you have this issue, it will keep reoccurring without fail, preventing you from joining any servers.
There are various solutions that have worked for different people, they are as follows:
Exiting and relaunching L4D2 may fix this issue. If not, exiting and restarting steam as a whole may work instead.
Navigate to your steam library, right click on Left 4 Dead 2, select properties and go to local files. Click on Verify integrity of game files…
Steam will check for missing files and re-install them, this can take up to an hour.
Certain add-ons might mess with your game files, so unsubscribing and/or deleting all your add-ons might fix the issue. Restart steam after doing this.
Turn off/unplug your modem for at least 30 seconds, then turn it on/plug it in again and wait for it to reconnect.
If the issue was related to your internet connection, this will most likely fix it.
Exit Steam, then delete the clientregistry.blob file. Following this, relaunch Steam.
It’s noteworthy that not everyone has the clientregistry.blob file. If that’s the case for you, ignore this option.
Add +clientport 27001 in the Left 4 Dead 2 launch options (Steam library > Right click Left 4 Dead 2 > Properties > Launch Options)
Alternatively, create a userconfig.cfg file with the inputs «-dxlevel 95 +clientport 27010» in the following directory:
Steam > Steamapps > Common > Left 4 Dead 2 > left4dead > cfg
Navigate to your steam settings and then to downloads.
(Optional) Change your download region, restart steam, then change it back and restart steam again.
Click on clear download cache.
This will prompt the message «The Steam service component is not working properly on this computer. Reinstalling the Steam service requires administrator privileges».
Click on INSTALL SERVICE and wait (it may keep freezing every time you do this, that is normal and you can leave it be until it responds again by itself.)

This is the most reliable fix, and the one that has worked for most people.
If you know of any other fixes that work, let me know and I will include them in this post.

I keep getting kicked out whilst I’m in the middle of a game and this message shows up. I try to rejoin and it doesn’t let me just keeps showing me this message.
I’ve read other discussions and followed the steps which are:
1. Disable steam cloud for L4D2.
2. Verify integrity of game cache
3. Go to your steam directory and delete the file called ClientRegistry.blob and restart steam.
4. While in game, open console and type cl_updaterate 50 Sometimes it’s set at 100. Turning it down to 50.
I tried all 4 of these steps but the error messages keep popping up and I’m once again kicked out of my game.
I’ve tried uninstalling the game and steam all together restarting and downloading again but still no luck.
I also noticed the step 3 above I looked through my steam registry and noticed I do not has a ClientRegistry.blob file at all.
Could really use some support right now as I keep getting annoyed and rage quitting.
This is happening to me as well! I haven’t played since last Wednesday, come back Monday night and I get this error non-stop.
I’ll report back if adjusting the priority of Steam to «High» works.
Try to put Steam.exe to high priority in the task manager before launching the game. It worked for me but i’ve only play two hours so far without any disconnection, instead of 15 minutes, or less, before.
I don’t know if you are gonna check this post again but I’m still posting here to share my method to fix this thing.
First of all, this kind of thing seems to cause by many reasons mainly involved network connecting.
If you are using wireless network, then you are with me.
Go to your wifi router setup page, and the first thing you do is to upgrade your firmware to updated version, you can usually find the updated firmware on your router manufacturer’s website.
Then check out the settings, what I did is to disable the uPnP and QoS (Bandwidth control).
After that you can use mobile app to analyze your wifi singal for the channel rating in order to choose the best channel instead of choosing auto, don’t forget to restart your router after all these steps.
I did everything on many threads trying to fix this but nothing works, until I do this and have not encounter this anymore.

Client timed out left 4 dead 2 что делать
I constantly receive the error message «Client timed out» whenever I try to join a game.
This morning (+-13:00 GMT+1) I joined a game via the serverbrowser (official server), played for 2 minutes, then the game crashed.
I start up the game anew, join a versus game which proceeds to load, I’m in the game for roughly 3 seconds, then it boots me to the main menu with the message «Client timed out».
Retried joining multiple games in different modes, both official and third party servers. Same error message.
Did a speedtest, everything is fine (100mbps download, 30mbps upload, 0 ping). Restarted router and PC to no avail.
Deleted clientregistry.blob and restarted steam, issue still persists.
Created userconfig.cfg file in the left4dead>cfg directory with the inputs «-dxlevel 95 +clientport 27010» (as was recommended in the steam forums) to no avail.
Put «+clientport 27001» (as recommended in the steam forums) in the Left 4 Dead 2 launch options, to no avail.
Attempted to exit and relaunch steam, issue still persists.
Unsubscribed/removed all add-ons (and relaunched steam), issue still persists.
Disabled steam cloud for L4D2 and verified integrity of game files, issue still persists
Quick re-install of L4D2, issue still persists.
Full re-install of L4D2, issue still persists.
Lengthy restart of my modem (15 Minute wait) followed by a lengthy restart of Steam (30 Minute wait), issue still persists.
I hope this will help someone in future.
Update, I fixed it! Somehow..
I’ll update the main post with how I fixed it, and will leave this up in case anyone stumbles upon it in future.
Feel free to necro if necessary

You don’t get banned because you necro’d. You hit the hammer if you’re just bumping a thread without adding anything valuable or informative to the thread.
Basically, if in 3 years someone posts «this worked for me thx» it’s completely okay.

Yeah, I know that all too well.
I constantly receive the error message «Client timed out» whenever I try to join a game.
I already sent a help ticket to steam support, but knowing how bad they generally are I decided to post here as well.

I have absolutely no idea how to fix this, nor why this even happened in the first place, since the first game of the day was working perfectly fine, and suddenly this error is plaguing me.
The only minor difference that occured for some of the attempted fixes, was that the loading bar took a few seconds to slowly fill up, whereas in other instances it immediately skipped to the end and gave me the error message after maybe 1 or 2 seconds.
Other games and websites work fine (excluding twitch, which is apparently having some issues today)
On an extra note, when uninstalling and re-installing L4D2, I’m unable to create a desktop shortcut, steam tells me there is already a shortcut on my desktop but this is not true, if someone has a fix for that too it’d be appreciated.
I just tried out hosting a local server and playing in singleplayer, and it gives me the «Client timed out» error. This makes less sense by the minute.
