Placement
Cosmos objects appear as native Revit families containing a lightweight geometric representation of the object. Depending on the object type itself, those families are either host-based or freestanding.
Modifications
In V-Ray, the Cosmos objects appear under the Appearance Manager > Objects tab as part of the following categories: Entourage, Fixtures, Furniture, Lighting, Planting.
You can modify the Cosmos assets from within the Objects tab.
Scale – Allows you to scale the Cosmos asset.
Rotation – Allows you to rotate the Cosmos asset around its vertical axis.
Similar to proxies workflow, the replacement of native Revit families with Cosmos objects is supported. For more information, refer to the Objects tab page.

When using Cosmos assets in distributed rendering, make sure all the machines point to the proper network directory. More information on how to manage the Cosmos assets’ folders is available at Configuring the Asset Download Directory and Moving the Asset Download Directory.

The imported Cosmos assets are listed in the Objects tab. They can be identified by the Cosmos icon. They can be renamed and deleted.
Like other proxy objects, Cosmos assets can be converted to full geometry using the Make Editable option.
Lights
Cosmos assets with light sources are listed in the LightMix render channel.
HDRIs
The HDRI assets create a Dome Light with a VRayBitmap attached to it. Dome Lights overexpose a scene, if not viewed from a Physical Camera. When importing an HDRI from the Cosmos Browser, it is recommended to use a Physical Camera to achieve the correct exposure.
Announcement
How change the download location of the Cosmo Browser
Comment
Sorry to say it is not currently possible to change the file path location for the assets. They are saved by default to C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\Chaos Cosmos\Packages. There will be a folder created for each asset.
Users will be allowed to change the storage folder through configuration and it is on our to-do lists. Thanks for the understanding and patience!
Comment
..and just as we speak, we’ve released information on How to configure the Cosmos Browser asset download directory (on Windows) We are currently working on publishing a documentation article on the matter but we don’t want to keep you waiting.
===========================
When you start downloading Cosmos Assets, these will be saved to a default local directory: C:\Users\[User]\Documents\Chaos Cosmos\Packages
Note: Please note that Cosmos assets downloaded previously to the default directory C:\Users\[User]\Documents\Chaos Cosmos\Packages will remain hidden from the Cosmos Browser after the new directory configuration takes effect. So, you need to delete them.
===========================
Let us know if you encounter any problems. The final document will contain details for Mac users as well.
This has been further discussed in the Chaos Cosmos Wishlist section here.
