2020.01.17 China Eastern Airlines запускает отслеживание багажа в международном аэропорту Нанкина Лукоу. Услуга позволит пассажирам следить за перемещениями их багажа практически в реальном времени, используя мобильное приложение авиакомпании или мессенджер WeChat.
Когда пассажир сдает свой багаж в аэропорту, ИТ-система записывает в багажную бирку номер рейса, время отправления и прибытия, а также номер багажной квитанции и другую информацию. Используются одноразовые метки, совмещенные с традиционной багажной бумажной биркой со штрих-кодом.

2019.07.25 В SITA верят в перспективы использования RFID для контроля багажа при авиаперевозках. В частности, приводится известный пример Delta Air Lines, которая внедрила RFID-контроль в 84 аропортах в США.

2018.08.21 В компании Kyocera разработали небольшую керамическую метку UHF RFID, которую можно крепить к металлическим предметам. Метка предназначена для аэрокосмической индустрии, где ее можно использовать для идентификации и отслеживания перемещений узлов и деталей самолета.
2018.08.06 Американская Delta использует миллионы RFID-меток. В 2012 году Delta оснастила метками RFID аварийное оборудование на всех своих бортах. Каждое утро, перед первым вылетом самолета, проводится сканирование салона с тем, чтобы выявить, что все спасательные жилеты находятся на месте и еще не наступил срок замены кислородных масок. Если выясняется, что что-то не так, есть достаточно времени на замену. Раньше на проведение такого контроля требовалась уйма времени нескольких человек, которое измеряли в десятках человеко-часов и проверки вынужденно проводились не слишком часто, сейчас проверка является ежедневной и обязательной и занимает от одной до полутора минут в случае, например, Boeing 777.
Системы контроля аварийного оборудования на базе RFID используются авиакомпанией более, чем в 90% мест, куда летают самолеты авиакомпании. Задействовано более 300 тысяч меток RFID на борту самолетов Boeing 867. Ежемесячно метки позволяют выявить 840 единиц инвентаря, нуждающихся в замене.В 2013 году компания начала оснащать метками RFID колеса самолетов, так что теперь всегда точно известно, когда и куда следует заказать новую партию колес. Этот процесс начался с Атланты, а сейчас отслеживание колес проводится уже в 12 хабах в режиме 24/7.
После этого эксперимента, который в компании признали удачным, Delta начала применять RFID и для решения других логистических задач. Метки, в частности, появились на ценном оборудовании, которое должно возвращаться на самолет после его ремонта. Сейчас в авиакомпании таким образом отслеживают 35 тысяч единиц оборудования.
Всего, с момента начала внедрения авиакомпанией было задействовано уже 687 тысяч меток RFID. Применение сканеров RFID заметно уменьшило долю ручного труда при проведении инвентаризаций в Атланте. Теперь вместо цикла в 4 дня, когда четыре человека работали в три смены, инвентаризация занимает 45 минут, причем отчет генерируется автоматически.
Сейчас компания начинает постепенно внедрять на складах стационарные сканеры RFID, позволяющие считывать данные одновременно с 40-50 меток. Это должно будет сделать отслеживание перемещений имущества на складах еще более легким и прозрачным.
